HAVING read your report about the proposed development of Piccadilly and Clifford's Tower area, I cannot believe we are looking at plans to build on the Clifford's Tower side of the River Foss.
This land should be an open area made into a grassy park or similar and not have massive buildings on it. Even though the developers tell us that they will be 84 feet from Clifford's Tower, that is still too close by being on the wrong side of the River Foss.
The redevelopment of Piccadilly is long overdue. But the developer's statement that Clifford's Tower can be again viewed down an alley off Piccadilly through a gap in the large buildings is to counteract the fact that the views of the museum and square of buildings around it will be totally overshadowed by the new building on the Foss Bank.
I hope when the plans go on public display the press will tell us all when, where and how we can see them so we all make positive progress.
