THE Government's Central Office of Information was due to release details today about the visit to York of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
It is thought that the Royals, who are visiting the city on July 27, will be greeted at Micklegate Bar as part of a tradition where the Queen is welcomed outside the gates before entering the city.
It is also understood that the Queen and the Duke will then attend a service at York Minster, before going to an exhibition at the Assembly Rooms and a Summer Daze event at the Yorkshire Museum.
The Queen was last in York in 1988, when she came to witness the restored Rose Window at York Minster being unveiled to the public for the first time.
This trip will again see her visiting the Minster, as part of a packed day of activities for the monarch.
