CARD Games, trained at Sheriff Hutton by Mick Easterby, can prove the ace in the pack at Haydock Park tomorrow.

This smart filly, owned by Guy Reed, bids for the 1999 Boursot Racecourse Catering Award Winner Handicap and will have the services of top northern jockey Kevin Darley, a rare booking by Easterby, and consequently a significant one.

A useful two-year-old last season when trained by Ian Balding, Card Games scored for Easterby at Redcar before finishing an excellent second to the smart Rendition in a valuable seven furlongs handicap at York's May meeting.

Freshened-up since then, and back to six furlongs tomorrow, which is expected to suit her even better, Card Games is strongly fancied to return to action in a blaze of glory.

Former Malton-based jockey Jimmy Quinn, just back from a stint in Hong Kong, can provide a reminder of his talents by clinching the £50,000 Letheby & Christopher Old Newton Cup on Court Shareef.

A reformed character this season for Richard Price, Court Shareef has won three of his four races and ran out a comfortable winner of the Cumberland Plate at Carlisle last week.

Although set to race off a 7lb higher mark tomorrow, Court Shareef is in the form of his life, and with only 7st 11lb to carry, is napped to come up trumps.

The Unigate Foodservice Lancashire Oaks could well fall to Sir Michael Stoute's Interlude after her cracking effort in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot, while also worth noting is the in-form Marino Street in the Vale UK Handicap.

The feature race of the day takes place at Sandown in the shape of the £300,000 Coral-Eclipse Stakes.

With Kevin Fallon on the sidelines, Pat Eddery comes in for the mount on Kalanisi, and Sir Michael Stoute's colt, brave winner of the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, can come out on top again over this extra two furlongs.

Despite a 9lb hike in the ratings since his Britannia victory at Royal Ascot, the high-class El Gran Papa is still expected to take all the beating in the £40,000 Rio De Janeiro Handicap, while Rambling Bear could well pick off his rivals close to clinch the £30,000 Porcelanosa Sprint Stakes.

Beverley provides the local action with Willoughby's Boy looking tasty in the Millers Mile Handicap. Ben Hanbury's colt got off the mark on this course six weeks ago and left the impression that day of better things to come. He can fulfil that promise here.

Tim Easterby can capture the Hypac Handicap with Royal Romeo, the mount of Robert Winston.

The three-year-old, successful over this course and distance last season, got back on the winning trail at Haydock recently and comes into this contest in good heart.

An encore is on the cards for Cybertechnology in the Hull Mitsubishi Handicap.

The Michael Dods-trained gelding got back in the winning groove over this course and distance last week and, with Tony Culhane again in the saddle, a follow-up looks on the cards.

Injured Michael Kinane will miss the ride on Giant's Causeway in tomorrow's Coral-Eclipse Stakes. George Duffield has been booked to take his place on board the St James's Palace Stakes winner at Sandown.
