Heartbeat star Bill Maynard, pictured, has asked TV bosses not to kill off his Claude Greengrass character.
He wants to return, playing the role in a wheelchair. Bill, 71, now partially paralysed by a serious stroke, says: "The writers are re-working scripts to complete the tenth series. I've asked them to give Claude a stroke, leaving the door open for me to return in a less demanding role. I could plot all the Greengrass scams from a wheelchair in the pub."
