OVINGTON are well clear at the top of division five after their 28 run win at Selby.

Dean Wharton gave Ovington a sound start upon which George Marwood and Dave Brummitt capitalised and they reached 183-9.

Selby's young attack was spearheaded by T Sherwood, who took3-24.

Selby struggled against the experienced Dave Brummitt who returned 7-51 from his 20 over stint and they closed at 155-9.

Wistow retain second place after taking maximum points against Copmanthorpe. D Lawler's 90 not out and 47 from J Middleton were the high spots in Wistow's 178-5.

Richard Laver propped up the Copmanthorpe innings being last man out for 28 but no one had any real answer to Wistow's Mick Bell whose 5-21 included a hat-trick.

Drax reached 147-6 at Thorpe Willoughby, Bob Wrigglesworth making 52 before being run out. Neil Copsey took 3-69 in 20 overs.

Ryan Watson was the only Thorpe batsman to reach double figures as they crumbled to 51 all out,John Penistone taking 3-18 and Wrigglesworth 4-4 as the Drax club completed a Saturday double over Thorpe.

Ted Donkin and Chris Forsdyke both reached the mid-thirties as Pocklington totalled 148 against Wheldrake, who won by six wickets as Harry Codling, making a rare appearance as an opener scored an unbeaten 64, and Jeremy Upton 37. Father and son Graham and Chris Forsdyke shared the wickets for Pocklington.

York made a horrendous start against Woodhouse Grange, losing their first three wickets for just two runs to Neil Barrett and Tony Smith. Fifteen-year-old Matthew Hodson and Pervez Akhtar stopped the rot and an enterprising 47 from Chris Emmerson enabled them to recover to 143.

That proved more than enough as David Murray's 4-2, Hodson's 3-6 and 13-year-old Jack Hulse's 2-7 hustled Grange out for 36.
