Manager: Micky Adams

Stadium: Withdean Stadium

Capacity: 6,000

Last Season: 11th

Comings and goings, out: Mark Walton (Cardiff, free), John Westcott, Ryan Palmer, Paul Armstrong, Mark Ormerod, Martin Ling, (all released)

In: Paul Brooker (Fulham, £25,000), midfielder Richard Carpenter (Cardiff, free), defender Nathan Jones (Southend, free), striker Lee Steele (Shrewsbury Town, free), midfielder Steve Melton (Nottingham Forest, free)

One to watch: New signing Lee Steele, snapped up on a free from Shrewsbury after arriving at Gay Meadow in a £40,000 move from Conference outfit Northwich Victoria. The 26-year-old Liverpool-born striker has looked sharp in training and notched a few goals on the pre-season mini-tour of Ireland. Though not really a big, bustling target man, Steele holds the ball up well and can bring other players into the game.

Odds: Confidence seems to be rife within the club itself, mainly due to a superb 14-game unbeaten run - coinciding with the arrival of the exciting Paul Brooker on loan from Fulham - at the end of last season following an indifferent start to the term.

Manager Micky Adams appears to have strengthened his squad, snapping up Brooker permanently, with fans hopeful that the incoming players will offer more than those released.

If they get off to a flyer to boost confidence further, then they could ride a crest of a promotion wave, although a play-off spot seems the most re-alistic hope.
