YORK schoolboy Mark Holt is a Wembley winner after helping his side lift the Nationwide Division One Play-off Youth Trophy.

The 12-year-old from Woodthorpe was playing for Barnsley Academy under-12s, who beat their counterparts from Ipswich Town 1-0 in the final at Wembley Stadium.

The match should have taken place prior to the Barnsley versus Ipswich Division One play-off final in May but was postponed then due to pitch conditions.

However, Holt - who has signed schoolboy forms with the Tykes - and his team went back to the Twin Towers for the match, and afterwards climbed the famous steps to pick up their medals and lift the trophy presented by former World Cup referee Jack Taylor.

The side were re-presented with the trophy by Barnsley boss Dave Bassett prior to the Reds' Worthington Cup clash with Rotherham at Oakwell.
