A multiple vehicle crash closed both carriageways of the A1 near Wetherby Racecourse this afternoon, producing at least six casualties.
The accident happened just after midday and a spokesman for Tees East and North Yorkshire Ambulance Service said four ambulances were called out from York plus three paramedic officers in their cars.
The spokesman said there were at least six casualties who were taken to Harrogate District Hospital.
