York chartered suveyor Alan Black will be on Knavesmire tomorrow hoping to see his racehorse Middlethorpe gain his fourth success of the season by winning the Racing Gifts Apprentice Handicap.

Black bred Middlethorpe from his mare Prime Property and owns Middlethorpe in partnership with Bill Quickfall.

The Mick Easterby-trained three-year-old was a long-priced winner on Knavesmire last month and has since obliged at Chepstow, just 24 hours after he had finished a creditable third at Epsom.

Tough and consistent, Middlethorpe is again the mount of experienced apprentice Paul Hanagan and can provide Black with another memorable local triumph tomorrow.

Easterby can also score with Fazzani in the Green Howards' Cup Nursery Handicap. This recruit to the Sheriff Hutton yard ran a fine race in defeat when chasing home Perfect Plum at Ayr.

Fazzani carries the colours of former Olympic athlete Chris Brasher, who is now a successful racehorse owner.

Granny's Pet can make it third-time-lucky in the Sterling Assurance Rated Handicap. Paul Cole's charge has been runner-up in the corresponding race in each of the last two years.

He looked a slightly unlucky loser at Newmarket last week. Picking up well from off the pace, Granny's Pet met trouble in running before staying on strongly to finish third to Capricho, beaten less than two lengths.

Although he does not win very often, Granny's Pet can find opportunity knocking here, with Jimmy Fortune in the saddle and is awarded the Nap vote.

Henry Cecil can win with Apple Town in the Atlas Ward Structures Classified '85' Stakes.

This progressive three-year-old has won his last two starts in useful style and clearly appreciates a rain-softened surface. He is poised to complete a hat-trick under Richard Quinn.

The sport4cast.com Conditions Stakes looks a tricky race, but Turku looks sure to give a good account of himself under Kevin Darley.

Mark Johnston's colt ran out a decisive three lengths winner from the odds-on Fortune Point at Haydock on his debut and looks open to considerable improvement.

Lord Eurolink, a winner last month on Knavesmire's inaugural Sunday programme, can produce an encore by landing the Constant Security Claiming Stakes.

Chris Dwyer's gelding has since finished a good second at Ayr and is clearly on excellent terms with himself at present.

John Carroll has been booked for the ride on Lord Eurolink tomorrow and will doubtless attempt to make all the running, tactics which favour his mount.
