Great News, who has recently lived up to his name on behalf of his supporters, can do the business again at York tomorrow.

The gelding, trained by William Haggas, goes for the Ladbrokes.co.uk Rated Handicap and will be partnered by crack Ryedale apprentice jockey Paul Hanagan, who has ridden Great News to two of his last three wins.

The five-year-old created quite a stir at last month's Ayr Western meeting. On the Friday he landed a major gamble when taking more than £130,000 out of the betting ring. Then, only 24 hours later, he completed a quick double on the same course.

Great News has since landed an easy win at Lingfield to further confirm his well-being.

With the handicapper now beginning to get to grips with him, the Newmarket gelding has more on his plate tomorrow. But, given his current high-flying form, I expect Great News to score again tomorrow.

Firework has excellent prospects of completing a double for Haggas by winning the European Breeders' Fund Maiden Stakes.

Runner-up in both his races in the spring, Firework chased home Barking Mad on this course in May.

Although not seen out since, this useful prospect deserves every consideration as he returns to action.

Preciso looks the answer to the Levy Median Auction Maiden Stakes.

Trained by Amanda Perrett, who has enjoyed a truly memorable year, this promising juvenile was beaten only half-a-length by Northfields Dancer on his debut at Goodwood recently.

Entered in next year's Derby, Preciso will need to win here to keep hopes of a Classic bid alive over the winter.

The Aldwark Manor Hotel Handicap looks a wide-open race, but Chem's Truce should play a significant part in the outcome.

The three-year-old was noted staying on strongly to finish fourth to Double Red on his latest outing at Goodwood.

Very much at home on soft ground, Chem's Truce will have conditions in his favour on Knavesmire and is expected to run a big race. He is awarded the Nap.

The Goodramgate Handicap over five furlongs will take plenty of solving, but Nineacres should go well under smart apprentice Pail Fitzsimons.

Trained on the Welsh border by sprint specialist Milton Bradley, Nineacres has been runner-up in his last two races, including the Ladbrokes Silver Cup at Ayr.

Overdue a winning turn, Nineacres could find opportunity knocking tomorrow.

Chris Grant, the former 'iron-man' National Hunt jockey, has mainly jumpers under his care in his adopted role as trainer, but the County Durham handler also has a speedy two-year-old in Prince Pyramus.

Successful at Beverley last time, Prince Pyramus is progressing along the right lines and should not be underestimated in the Northern Electric Nursery Handicap.
