HARROGATE, who for a long time last season could not win away, have not lost on their travels this term but they will need to be at their best to maintain the run when they hit the road in the Tetley's Bitter Cup.

The draw has paired them with Rugby, who share the lead in National League Two with Harrogate on the eight points mark and who beat them at Claro Road on the season's opening day.

Coach Ralph Zoing makes just one change from the team which started at Lydney, with Army prop Mark Bevan making his debut in place of Rob Wilson who drops to the bench.

It means RAF lock Peter Taylor continues in the back row as Mike Worden has still not recovered from a neck injury.

In spite of the earlier defeat, Harrogate will go into the game with confidence high after putting together four straight wins.

Zoing said: "Rugby are setting the standard in our league but there is not a lot between us.

"So there is no reason why we can't go there and win and I thought we were the better side for long periods in the league game and lost because we made silly mistakes."

Pocklington's Intermediate Cup clash at Goole promises to be an intriguing clash.

Up and coming Goole's strength can be measured by the fact that only one club in North Two East has scored more points than them and they have conceded less points than any other club in their league.

However, Pocklington, one league junior to Goole in Yorkshire One, have taken great strides forward in recent years.

It will be a big game for Goole flanker Neil Cawood, who started his rugby career at Percy Road before moving to Goole and then back to Pock again last season, only to return to the Humberside club at the start of the current campaign.

Goole, fresh from their 19-0 win at York last Saturday, shift prop Mark Fallon to the replacements' bench, as Martin Milburn has recovered from a shin injury.

Back trouble rules out Pocklington prop Al Greenwood, with James Ward taking his place in the front row.

Andrew Wilson is missing against his old club because of a family wedding and Simon Lewis is named in Pock's second row after being unavailable last week.

Selby coach Steve Cruise, the former Yorkshire hooker, was far from happy with the turnout for training this week, especially as his charges are involved in a Yorkshire League home clash against Keighley tomorrow.

Making his debut for Selby is winger Chris Crompton, who has spent five seasons in Macclesfield's first team.

Crompton replaces Mick Parson-age, the former York player, who has a shoulder injury. Andy Minto is also named in the Selby squad.

Ripon entertain Bradford Salem in the Intermediate Cup second round with Jerry Hickman coming in at centre after returning from holiday.

With Jim Metcalf and Alex Whitaker having returned to college, places have been found for Kevin Guy and Jonathan Braford.

Malton and Norton and York RI are involved in Tetley's Bitter Vase second round ties, at home to Knottingley and Hullensians, respectively.

In Malton's only team change, Arthur Wilson is named for the unavailable Tim Chapman, while RI are looking at their options as John Alexander is also unavailable.

RI coach Andy Morse is delighted with the training turnout after sessions were switched from Tuesday to Monday at New Lane with St John's College players joining in.

With former skipper Nigel Durham heading to Cork for his stag weekend, York have opted not to fill the various gaps in their playing strength by taking a week off at first-team level.

Malton and Norton ladies are in action against Halifax at The Gannock on Sunday (3pm).

Some 24 players train each week under the watchful eye of Nick Cooke, the brother of the former England manager, Geoff Cooke.
