And they're off! When jockeys Kevin Green and Sarah Perry aren't riding in the 2.15, they're on stage belting out some of their own favourites.

The karaoke-mad couple love nothing better than getting up and crooning hit songs. Kevin and Sarah, who live together in Malton, are going head-to-head in the finals of a singing contest to raise money for good causes.

"I was doing karaoke before I met Kevin but it wasn't long before he decided to join in," says Sarah, 23. "Kevin has got a good voice and I encouraged him to get up on stage. Now we both love it and go to karaoke nights regularly."

The couple, who also work together at Dickman Stables, in Norton, both entered the singing contest under different heats.

"I was one of the winners in the first heat and a few weeks later Kevin won his heat, so now we're both in the final," she says.

"I do Shania Twain and Kevin does Ronan Keating. We're supporting each other through the contest and there is no rivalry - it's all a load of fun."

The talent contest has been organised by Malton man Richard Scarth in memory of his brother, David, who tragically died this year aged 42.

Proceeds from the competition will go to Norton County Primary School and the Hawthorns Old People's Home, in Norton. The final will be held early in December.
