Champions Boroughbridge had lady luck to thank as they just came through their Senior League Cup tie at home to Civil Service 3-2.

They were fully stretched from start to finish. In the first five minutes Rob Evans missed two easy chances before 'Bridge took the lead with a well struck shot from striker Paul Stephenson.

Civil Service rallied to equalise, Alex Livie setting up Martin Reagan to net. Early in the second half the visitors went in front, Livie lobbing 'keeper Alaister Hogg.

The Bridge came back to level with a brilliant header by Les Gray. Hogg brought off an outstanding save from a Livie thunderbolt shot, and two minutes later he was called upon to pull off another great save.

The home side went in front 15 minutes from time when Mark Dickinson got on the end of a cross.

The Servicemen continued to bombard the home side goal, and were unlucky when what looked like a certainty from sub Mark Dawson's shot was blocked on the line.

Rich Wells and front runner Livie were outstanding for Service.

Pocklington were on top form at Osbaldwick, having a comfortable passage into the next round with a 7-0 win.

The home side worked well in the first half, creating two good scoring chances, but they were unable to finish.

Pock went in front when a Charlie Bond shot slightly deflected to beat 'keeper Rich Taylor. Playing good attacking football with speed, Pocklington increased their lead with a Baz Gargett header off a corner.

After the turnaround, the visitors got more on top, forcing the home 'keeper to make a number of good saves before he was beaten five more times. Bond added three more and Baz Gargett snapped up a second.

Osbaldwick kept battling away and went close when the ball just shaved the upright.

Rich Millett netted the seventh for Pocklington ten minutes from the final whistle.

Division One side Malton Bacon Factory knocked out premier side Bishopthorpe 2-0.

Both goals came in the first half through Dennis Moffatt and Warren Greenly.

The Bishops imporved their game after the break but could not break down the strong home defence

Premier side Kartiers gave a good team effort when knocking out Fulford from Division One 4-1.

Brothers Craig and Danny Hewitt shared the four goals, Craig bagging the first two before Fulford lifted their game to narrow the gap with a goal from Dave Houlridge.

Seventeen-year-old Danny Hewitt celebrated his selection to the Barkston Ash F.A squad with two goals.

York Sugar, playing with only ten men, beat Wigginton Grasshoppers 4-2 away to go in to the next round.

The game was tight in the first half with the Grasshoppers creating most chances. Mike Gibson shot Sugar into the lead before Carl Young equalised with a well placed shot.

The Sugarmen came back to regain the lead, Gibson bagging his second.

The home side counter-attacked to equalise through a goal by former Sugar player, Adrian White, before Joe Gaughan put the visitors back in front.

End to end action followed with Gibson making no mistake from the penalty spot to register his hat-trick.

Home side Nestle Rowntree gave a good account of themselves despite being knocked out 3-0 by Crayke.

Crayke were two goals up at half-time, Steve Gilliard scoring with a header from close range and their second a well-worked effort by Don Copeland.

After the break 'Trees lifted their game to create some good scoring chances, but failed to take advantage of them.

Crayke increased their lead with a 20-yard thunderbolt by Simon Wilson. Guy Ulliat, Pete Sinclair and Jim Gore were prominent throughout for the home side.
