PINTS for pennants is on offer at the bar of the York City Social Club.

A recent count-up of the club standards adorning the favoured pre and post-match watering hole has revealed 21 are needed to ensure every Premiership and Football League club is represented.

Now social club licensee and manager Ron Dixon is prepared to give a free pint to anyone willing to donate one of the missing 21, which are: Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City, Cambridge United, Chelsea, Colchester United Crewe Alexandra, Crystal Palace, Luton Town, Mansfield Town, Northamp-ton Town, Notts County, Oldham Athletic, Port Vale, Portsmouth, Reading, Stockport County, Swansea City, Torquay United, West Bromwich Albion, Wigan Athletic, Wrexham.

The social club has already made preparations for next season should early Nationwide Conference pacesetters Yeovil Town, now bossed by former City striker and Scarborough manager Colin Addison, make good their ascent into the League.

The newest pennant to arrive at the social club is one from the ambitious Somerset-based club.

YORK City's 4-1 FA Cup triumph over Radcliffe Borough last Sunday marked a number of notable firsts for the Minstermen.

Scott Jordan grabbed his first goal of the season while Graham Potter bagged his first goal for City since arriving at Bootham Crescent in the summer.

Potter's early strike was actually the former England Under-21 international's first goal in five years.

His last strike, scored for Stoke City, came in October 1995, when the Potters beat Wolves 4-1.

More than 100 appearances for six other clubs later, Potter finally ended his drought after just three minutes at Gigg Lane.

The match also saw City score four in a match for the first time since a 4-4 draw with Southend United back in December 1997.

After scoring three times against Torquay just a week earlier for the first time at Bootham Crescent since December 1998, what price on City grabbing five today at Kidderminster?

The last time the Minstermen scored five times in a match was against Rochdale in the first round of the Coca Cola Cup in August 1995.

However, that nap hand came after extra-time.

The last time City scored five inside 90 minutes came just months earlier, in April, when Blackpool were beaten 5-0 at Bootham Crescent.

FASCINATING. That was Terry Dolan's opinion of Real Madrid's impressive 2-0 Champions' League victory over Leeds United in midweek.

The City chief was at Elland Road to see the Spanish giants flex their muscles and show their class over an injury-ravaged Leeds.

Dolan, who I am assured was not on a scouting mission casting his eye over possible new recruits, said: "They were very impressive and Leeds would have had to have everybody available to compete.

"I was very impressed with Helguera, the midfield player who just sat in front of the back four, and Makelele. He was all over the place.

"They moved the ball around so quickly it was fascinating."

BARRY Conlon will no doubt want to forget about Colchester United's surprise 5-1 FA Cup exit at the hands of Nationwide Conference leaders Yeovil Town last week.

With the game scoreless, the City striker, currently on loan at the Division Two outfit, crashed an early header against the crossbar. Had it gone in it may well have forced a different outcome.

At least the former Irish Under-21 international can take solace from his debut performance a week earlier when the struggling U's defeated high-fliers and City's round two opponents Reading.

As reported in this column, Colchester manager Steve Whitton singled out Conlon for praise after a shock 1-0 win at the Madjeski Stadium.

And his star showing was confirmed this week when Conlon's performance warranted selection in the Division Two team of the week as featured in the Nationwide Football League newsletter.

CITY'S high-Fives take on their counterparts from Kidderminster tomorrow in the quarter-finals of a national amateur five-a-side competition.

The City supporters' team beat Aston Villa 6-3 in last month's third round Worthington Fives tie after earlier victories over Stoke City and a walkover against Newcastle United.

Victory against the Harriers Five in Nottingham tomorrow will earn the City contingent a semi-final berth in the new year with the final to be played as a curtain-raiser before the Worthington Cup final in February.

The champions will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Europe.

CUP glory may be on the brink for one group of York City supporters but it will have to wait for another.

The Yorkie Bars, a group of Internet-surfing Minster-men followers, suffered an 18-1 defeat at the hands of Hibernian in their second round Internet Football League Cup clash last week.

The Bars were looking for their first win of the season when they entertained Luton at Oaklands Sports Centre earlier today.
