Huntington Rovers stormed to the top of the York Leeper Hare Football League premier division with an emphatic 6-0 win at CGU.

They now lead on goal difference from Crayke, who were held 1-1 by Dunnington.

Rob Whittaker opened Huntington's account with a penalty and defender Danny Benson added a second goal before the interval.

Paul Noon's 25-yard drive made it 3-0 and after bottom club CGU were reduced to ten men an own goal and two efforts from Mick Gosling doubled Huntington's tally.

Crayke held a one-goal advantage through Ian Dawson before Dunnington's Matt Shelton denied them victory with a late 25-yard shot.

Dringhouses maintained their unbeaten start to the league campaign with a 4-1 win at York Sugar.

An own goal and a Mark Ratcliffe strike put Dringhouses in command at the interval before another own goal made it 3-0. Mike Gibson pulled a goal back for Sugar before Andy Barkway wrapped up the game for Dringhouses.

Pocklington came away from Rufforth with a 4-1 win in an incident-packed game.

Pock's opener came after 12 minutes, Simon Mapplesden netting from close range and Rufforth goalkeeper Chris Maude was forced into making some great saves before Mark Croft made it 2-0.

Rufforth narrowed the gap after a blunder in the Pock defence left Paul Moss to tap the ball into an empty net.

The home side came more into the game after that and were denied an equaliser by an outstanding save from Carl Silburn. From a quick counter-attack, Pock restored their two-goal cushion through Dave Gamble and Charlie Bond added the fourth late on.

Dave Ablett, Rob Eales and Mark Croft starred for Pock, while Maude, Chad Brooke, Andy Moss and Gary Keenan caught the eye for Rufforth.

Boroughbridge kept up with the leading pack after a 3-1 home win over Kartiers.

Les Gray volleyed in Paul Stephenson's cross after two minutes for the champions, who made it 2-0 when Andy Weatherall converted Duncan Quick's cross.

A Mark Lucas header brought Kartiers back into contention, but Stephenson grabbed Boroughbridge's third to seal the points.

Both clubs praised referee Tony Harteveld for his performance in a match played in a driving rain storm.

New Earswick gained their first point of the season by drawing 3-3 at Bishopthorpe.

John Carter put New Earswick ahead, Keith O'Brian equalised and Joe Garnham made it 2-1 to Bishopthorpe.

Goals by Jimmy Vine and Phil Hart then put New Earswick ahead, but they were denied victory when O'Brian netted his second goal three minutes from the end.
