York City matchwinner Kevin Hulme is a hard man to satisfy.

He admitted he was delighted with his two goals against Torquay and a 3-2 win for City but insisted he should have had a hat-trick.

The midfielder had a gilt-edged opportunity to give City the lead in the first-half but miscued his header badly from Scott Jordan's corner.

"I was celebrating before I didn't head it because it was so easy to score, but I did not connect," he confessed.

"We have got to be more solid at the back otherwise we are going to be fighting all the way to the 90th minute.

"But I am delighted with the win, it was a game we really needed to win."

Hulme's day was tempered however by the news that City will now face his former club, Radcliffe Borough, in next Sunday's FA Cup first round at Bury's Gigg Lane (3pm).

The UniBond League division one outfit booked their date with City with a 2-1 triumph over Burscough in their fourth qualifying tie on Saturday.

"I heard it over the tannoy that Radcliffe had got through and I thought 'that's typical,'" said the 32-year-old, who will miss the game due to suspension.

"But I am confident the lads will turn them over, playing at Gigg Lane should suit us."

The Lancashire club have opted to move the tie from their Stainton Park home to the home of Nationwide League outfit Bury.

City fans should note that there are no special ticketing arrangements for the tie and that admittance can be gained on the day. Those wishing to buy tickets in advance can contact the Minstermen's ticket office on 624447.

City boss Terry Dolan will be hoping that his side's defensive ills are cured before they tackle the minnows from Radcliffe.

A relived Dolan has vowed to work on defensive frailties this week after the Minstermen left it late to claim Saturday's 3-2 win over Torquay.

The City chief admitted he was delighted that York had managed to score three goals in a game for only the second-time this season - the first triple haul at home since December 1998.

However, he revealed he had delivered a half-time rollicking to his defence after City had come-back from a goal down to go 2-1 up, only to let the Gulls snatch an equaliser deep into first-half stoppage time.

Kevin Hulme's majestic header two minutes from time spared City's blushes but Dolan admitted the win still left City with much work to do.

"It is a sign of a good team that can win when they are not playing well," he said.
