I was astonished by the recent Liberal Democrat attack on the Government's initiative to support schools, announced in the pre-Budget speech by Gordon Brown.
This extra money is being delivered direct to schools for repairs. York schools will receive half a million pounds from this initiative. Instead of congratulating the Government, the Liberal Democrats are asking the people of York to pay £120 a year more in council tax to fund their proposals.
