THIS Saturday, the York & District Schools have a friendly cross-country match against East Riding Schools at Beverley, writes Peter Wilmot.
The first race starts at noon.
With some of the leading runners resting or unavailable, this is a good opportunity for new runners to gain race experience.
All runners will be preparing for the North Yorkshire Championships at Tadcaster Grammar School the following week, which, for the successful runners, will lead to selection for county teams.
Some of the newer runners have been training well in preparation for these races and have made good progress.
The next training session is on Thursday at 7pm at the York Racecourse.
