Supporters can now help to directly finance players' wages following the launch of a new fund.

Spencer Hargrave has been involved with the setting up of the Players Fund, in which fans can pledge cash to go towards their wages.

Any money pledged will go straight into the fund and will be used solely to pay players.

The cash will top up the players current contracts, which under the new terms mean they receive 50 per cent of the net gate receipts from home games.

Hargrave has been contacted by a Leigh Centurions' fan claiming that a similar venture at championship contenders Leigh has proved very successful and currently helps to finance their impressive squad.

Hargrave is now hoping to build a website with all the information about the Players Fund.

Around £450 has been pledged since it was launched yesterday afternoon.

All cheques, however small, should be sent to the club and made payable to York Rugby League Football Club - Players Fund.

The fund is open for inspection at any time.
