Worried York City Supporters' Club official Raymond Wynn has warned against complacency as the Minstermen look to stop the rot.

Wynn, speaking ahead of Saturday's visit of bottom-club Exeter to Bootham Crescent, insists the fans have delivered on the terraces, now its the players who have to deliver on the pitch.

"Everybody appears to know what is wrong and we are being told everything is all right and we won't finish bottom but perhaps they know more than we do," he said.

Wynn added: "It is crunch time.

"The supporters have got behind the players and turned out in their numbers at Scunthorpe to give them fantastic support.

"But what more do the players want? The fans cannot do it for them."

Wynn, secretary of the City Supporters' Club of which he has been involved for 32 years, reasoned the importance of Saturday's match with the Grecians merely underlined City's current plight.

He said: "I have seen some poor seasons before when things have been bad but it has come to something when a match with Exeter in mid-February is classed as a big game.

"It is not a big match, it is a crucial match.

"Everyone of City's remaining 17 matches are crucial, every point is vital and City have just got to dig in and do it.

"The supporters have got behind the team but they have not delivered the goods."

Despite supporters' current concerns, Wynn appealed to wavering fans to be at Bootham Crescent on Saturday and to get behind the team again.

He said: "We always do get behind the team, there will be no doubt about that.

"There were some 3,000 fans at Leicester City and we got behind the team at Scunthorpe on Saturday.

"I thought the turn out there was tremendous given that it was such a disappointing performance.

"I noted a lot of parents with young children and it was a pity they had to witness such a poor performance."
