Heworth 'A' consolidated their position as leaders of the York Conservative Clubs' Carlsberg-Tetley Snooker League with a resounding 6-1 victory over bottom placed Acomb 'B'.

Richie Burdett, Steve Burdett, Keith Lawrence, Jason Milner, Clive Whyte and Neil Wood won for Heworth. Peter Lawson replied for Acomb.

An understrength Bootham struggled against Fulford 'B' and are now six points in arrears after gaining a 4-3 win.

Bootham's winners were Brian Coulson, John Darley, Colin Robinson and Mark Darley who won on the last frame.

Pete Stroughair, George Toone and Bernie Appleton, who fluked the final black to defeat Peter Mills, won for Fulford.

Acomb 'A' came from 2-0 down to record a 4-3 success against Heworth 'B' to hold onto third place, two points behind Bootham 'A'.

Pat Johns and Colin Richardson won the first two frames for Heworth but Ian Gillies, Richard Harris, Keith Myers and Trevor Ventress responded to secure the win.

Ged Mackenzie went in off the final black to give Keith Watkinson (26 break) Heworth's third point.

Bootham 'B' went six points clear in the John Smith's Trophy competition after a 4-3 defeat of Fulford 'A'.

Tom Bamford, George Long, Ian Robinson and John Wortley won for Bootham with replies by Simon England (23 break), Colin Neal and Wayne Puleston for Fulford.

Steve Burdett (Heworth) has won all eight of his matches but Neil Wood (Heworth), still undefeated after ten wins, leads the Willsden Player of the Year contest.

His 71 break is still the highest in the North Wold Printers Cup competition.

Second placed Heworth surprised York Conservative Clubs' Slater Cup snooker pairs league leaders Fulford by winning 4-3.

Each team won alternately to level the match at three frames each but Heworth secured the win by easily taking the aggregate point despite both teams scoring heavily.

Bootham continue in third place after a sound 5-2 victory over bottom placed Acomb but are a further three points adrift.

However, Bootham and Fulford still have to meet three times out of the last five matches due to one match being postponed so the title is there to be taken.

Bootham 'A' crushed last year's champions Acomb 6-1 to maintain their position as York Conservative Clubs' Faber Shield Billiards League leaders.

Ken Taylor rallied to defeat John Hutchinson by one point and the other wins by John Darley, Peter Mills, Barry Rankin and Colin Robinson easily secured the aggregate. Peter Lawson replied for Acomb.

Fulford reduced their second place arrears to three points with a 5-2 success over Bootham 'B'. Brian Bickerstaff, Wayne Puleston, Alan Reed and Richard Stroughair won for Fulford.

Colin Granger and Ray Stamp were successful for Bootham 'B' who are a further three points behind in third place.
