A YORK company that supplies weather protection systems for scaffolding is reaching new heights with the aid of Business Link North Yorkshire.

Industrial Textiles & Plastics Limited (ITP) of Providence Hill, Husthwaite, York, has attained ISO 9002 certification, after help and advice was provided by Business Link North Yorkshire personal business adviser Ian Rhodes.

ITP's chairman Richard Menage said: "This certification is important for us because it enables us to quote for government contracts."

He added: "Ian played an important role in advising us about the many steps that we would have to take and the processes that we would have to put in place to attain ISO 9002 and his expertise proved invaluable, while saving us a great deal of time."

ITP, whose daily operations are run by managing director Marc van der Voort, celebrated its tenth anniversary on November 1. The company employs 12 people and works with scaffolding contractors and construction and civil engineering companies.

As well as supplying sheeting for scaffolding, the company provides debris netting and other covering materials.

A new development from ITP is an elasticated power tie which enables the protective sheeting on scaffolds to be secured safely and have greater resistance to gusts of wind.

To develop this product still further, the company is seeking grant aid and is working with Roger Benson, Business Link North Yorkshire's innovation and technology adviser in the search for appropriate sources of funding.
