Ryedale's MP John Greenway was the only local Member of Parliament to declare a substantial income from outside politics last year.

In the Register of Members' Interests, he listed an income of between £10,000 and £15,000 as president of the Institute of Insurance Brokers.

The Conservative MP was also paid between £1,001 and £5,000 by the British Promotion Merchandising Association, as well as a similar amount by Reed Exhibitions Ltd.

Mr Greenway listed gifts of two tickets to last year's FA Cup final ball and hospitality at several racecourses, including York.

Conservative Vale of York MP Anne McIntosh listed declared income as a non-practising advocate and occasional fees for TV appearances.

Gifts included free membership of the RAC club at the Pall Mall and membership of their breakdown services.

York MP and Social Security Minister Hugh Bayley declared occasional fees for writing and lecturing.

Selby MP John Grogan recorded a payment from a local newspaper for a column written every five weeks.

Harrogate and Knaresborough MP Philip Willis listed his unpaid role as chairman of the Harrogate International Centre Board.

Scarborough and Whitby MP Lawrie Quinn declared free rail travel for himself and his wife in the UK and Europe, courtesy of his former employer, Railtrack.

Railtrack has agreed to keep the offer of a job as a civil engineer open in case he ceases to be an MP, according to the register.

Mr Quinn also declared a trip to Brazil with the British-Brazilian All-Party Group last April.
