York Schoolboys Under-11s are in action in the North of England Predator football seven-a-side finals on Saturday.

The competition will be staged at Chester-le-Street and players are asked to meet at the Riverside Farm pub on the A19 at 9.30am.

The squad comprises: Callum Atkinson, Mark Wilson, Will Holmes, Josh Hryciazuk, Liam Simpson, Phil Walters, Jamie Williamson, Charlie Metcalfe, Dale Hunt, Carl Stewart.

In their most recent 11-a-side outing, the youngsters were beaten 2-0 at home by Bradford.

Football

Now that the half-term holiday is over and schools are back in session, all football-playing schools are expected to play off their remaining league fixtures and their remaining cup-ties.

Results of all matches must be sent in immediately to the local secretary, Peter Wilmott, 217 Beckfield Lane, Acomb York YO26 5PH (Tel 01904 791416).

Will managers of City Boys' teams also please send in - straightaway - results of current matches with the names of scorers and their schools.

Basketball

The All Saints U14 Basketball team is having an excellent season, having reached the semi-finals of the national competition.

There they will play either a school from North Manchester or a school from Sedgefield in Durham.

The team to represent All Saints will be selected from the following players: Eoin Elliott, Simon Fidler, Chris Teasdale, Nick Outram, Mark Flintoft, Steven James, Shaun Curry, Tom Helstrip, Tim Outram, Jack Aaron, Paul Walker, Josh Igoe and Joe Stephenson.

Awards

The annual Awards Night of the York & District Schools' Athletic Association will be held on Wednesday, April 4, at the Salvation Army Citadel, Gillygate, starting at 7pm.

The awards will be presented by the Rt Hon The Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Shan Braund. The Sheriff of York, Mr Barrie Ferguson, will also be in attendance.

RI's mini-push

YORK RI Rugby Union Club are aiming to establish a mini section for boys and girls aged seven to ten years old.

Coaching sessions will be on Sunday mornings at the New Lane ground, starting from 10am on Sunday, March 11 for one hour.

The sessions, all under qualified coaches, will be run up until Easter.
