Second division Marcia moved into the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup with a superb 5-1 win at first division Hounds.

The game was as good as over by half time as Marcia cruised to a 4-0 lead through goals from David Allison (2), Ian Kettlewell and Greg Fitzmaurice.

Hounds rallied in the second half with a goal from Dixon, but Marcia confirmed their superiority with a fifth from Fitzmaurice.

Wigginton will now play Marcia in the semi-final after they beat Pack of Cards 4-0.

Wigginton led after a tight first half with a goal from Mark Pemberton. They went on to dominate the second period with goals from Gavin Dickinson, Adam Wash and Tom Matthews.

In the remaining tie New Earswick booked their place when they overcame Nestl Rowntree.

Rowntrees took the lead in the first half but Pat Kelly equalised to take the game to extra time. A goal apiece in the extra period meant the teams still couldn't be separated. New Earswick finally won 8-7 after penalties.

In the re-scheduled third round Mecca Trophy ties Barry Shepherdson hit four extra time goals for Shape Shop to take his tally to five in the match and see his side through to the next round with a 6-2 win over Cygnet.

Paul Goddard scored Shape Shop's other with Cygnet's goals from Mark Henderson and substitute Paul Nicholson.

Thorpe United cruised to a 7-1 win against the Greyhound courtesy of goals from Emery (2), Crowther, Wood, Ramsay, Cliff and an own goal. Greyhound's consolation came from a Lee Davison spot-kick.

Two goals from David Chapman and one for Matthew Gomm weren't enough as Fulford WMC went down 5-3 to Hemingbrough for whom Neil Taylor (2), Mick Collins, Lee Ward and Steve Harrison were on target.

Only one game was played in division one, where Volunteers jumped to second with a 3-1 win at Zafs with goals from Lee Bond, Scott Barley and Chris Burgess. They are six points behind leaders Wigginton but have two games in hand.

Carlton eased their relegation fears with a fine 5-4 win over leaders Magnet FC.

Garry Carter gave them the lead after only two minutes with a dipping shot from the edge of the area. Darren Ward equalised only for John Jeffrey to restore Carlton's lead.

Paul Downes levelled, but Matthew Benson once again put Carlton's ahead on half time from close range.

Two goals from Dan Edmondson in the opening five minutes of the second half opened up a 5-2 lead. Jack Wilson pulled one back with 20 minutes left and Paul Middleton made it 5-4 to set up a tense last five minutes.

Shipton consolidated their position as promotion favourites with a sound 6-1 win over Copmanthorpe with goals from Blake (2), Tilsley, Whalen, Pratt and an own goal. Mark Lynch scored for struggling Copmanthorpe.

Selby Olympia now have an eight-point advantage in division three after a 4-2 win against Acomb Sports Club.

Pocklington moved up to second with a comprehensive 8-0 win over bottom club Black Horse. Eeles (2), Daniels (2), O'Connor, Whitehead, Bond and Millet were the scorers.

Nestl Flag helped push Wilberfoss deeper into the relegation mire when they beat them 4-1 with goals from O'Connell (2), Gatenby and an own goal. Jonathan Parkin scored Wilberfoss's only reply.

In division four Wigginton GH moved away from the relegation places with a fine 6-2 win at Raskelf Rovers.

Mark Tannon (2), Tom Close, Robert Murphy, Ben Coates and Tom Coates were on target for Wigginton. Brimcombe (2) and Durrant replied.

Heworth pulled off the result of the day when they held York Nomads to a 1-1 draw.

Collins scored for Heworth and Crosby for Nomads but Heworth are still in trouble at the bottom having played more games than their rivals.

Boy & Barrel did their hopes a power of good when they came from behind to win against Inland Revenue.

Revenue took the lead in the first half from Burn. But Boy & Barrel broke loose in the second period as goals from Littlewood (2), Kelly (2) and Fenwick gave them a 5-1 win.

Lee Johnson hit a hat-trick, Matty Bostock got two and Dave Robinson one as Copmanthorpe Reserves returned to winning way with a 6-3 win over Haxby Lions.

In the only game in division six Andy Nicholson hit five as Enterprise Maff made it three wins on the trot with a 12-0 thrashing of struggling Beefeater.
