A robber was today at large following a raid on a York building society.
Staff at the Skipton Building Society in Kings Square were described as "badly shaken up" following yesterday's incident.
Police were called to the building society at 12.29pm. Staff reported that a man had passed a note through a cashier's window demanding money.
The cashier handed over what police said was "a quantity of money". No one was hurt and no weapon used.
The man police are hunting is described as white, slim, 5ft 6in tall, wearing a black woollen hat, a beige or white Mackintosh and black sunglasses.
Detectives from York CID are particularly interested in speaking to residents of St Andrewgate and Bedern who may have seen the man as he ran along, discarding clothes.
Anyone who can help with the police investigation is asked to ring 01904 631321.
