A North Yorkshire woman was killed when two minibuses carrying 16 elderly tourists from the UK crashed in Morocco, the Foreign Office said today.
The minibuses, both run by the same travel company, crashed yesterday afternoon near Marrakesh while the passengers, in their 50s and 60s, were on a tour of the country, a Foreign Office spokeswoman said.
The woman, who has not been named, and the Moroccan driver of one of the minibuses died, she added.
The news was due to be broken to her family last night.
Six British tourists remained in hospital in the city after suffering minor injuries in the accident.
The remaining 10 British tourists, and a number of holidaymakers from other countries, were unharmed, the spokeswoman said.
No more details of the accident were known, she added.
