A SPECIAL Ladies' Day is to be held at York Racecourse for our Hospice 2000 Appeal.

The event, on Saturday, March 17 is being organised by the Pocklington and Market Weighton Ladies Circle.

It is to be held in the splendid setting of the Ebor Suite at the racecourse from 11.30am to 4.30pm and tickets are £22.50 each. Following the lunch, floral designer Andrew Grisewood will give a demonstration entitled My Box Of Delights. Andrew designed the spectacular floral displays for the hospice's Millennium Sunflower Ball last June, which raised more than £27,000 for the appeal.

He has recently run a residential course at the Churchill Hotel in Bootham for 40 women from around the UK, which is to be repeated in January 2002. Event organisers Laura and Sandra Burley, Debbie Knowlson and Catriona Davison, have collected prizes, including a colour TV, for a spring draw which will take place at the end of the day. Andrew's floral displays will also be raffled to raise additional funds. Laura said: "The work of St Leonard's has influenced the lives of so many local people. We want to help them reach their target of £2 million and hope that lots of people will come along and support the Hospice." Janet Morley, fundraising manager for St Leonard's, said: "We very much appreciate the support of the members of Pocklington and Market Weighton Ladies Circle in helping us reach our goal."

Tickets and raffle tickets are available from Debbie Knowlson on 01759 305812 and Laura Burley on 01759 304861.
