CHILDREN have helped choose a new name for their York school as they look forward to a new era for primary education in Clifton.
Kingsway Junior School is to become Clifton Green Primary School from September, when it will merge with Shipton Street Infant School, off Burton Stone Lane. Shipton Street will then close in August 2002.
Pupils at both schools were asked to think of names for their new school and the winning suggestion was inspired by Clifton Green, just round the corner from the school.
Meanwhile, Burton Green Infant School will also be developed into a primary school and will expand year by year, as children stay at the school until they are 11.
