Scarborough owner Brooks Mileson has revealed he is willing to sell the club for just £1 after negotiations with Kent businessman Ken Anderson broke down.

"I felt they were not the right people to take this club forward," he said.

"We're talking to other parties who seem to have the club's interests at heart."

Mileson became the majority shareholder after converting his huge debt at the club to equity at the time of the creditors' voluntary agreement last summer, but now wants to relinquish control to someone who can be more 'hands on'.

"The people I am talking to are extremely keen, have a football background and are more than financially capable of looking after the club. I shall be seeing them again this week," he said.

Mileseon paid £1 for the club after writing off its debts, but any new owners must be prepared to take on a big bank loan and cut the losses at the club, where there is still a big wage bill and falling income.

There was no transfer activity on deadline day, although it is thought Whitby teenager Ashley Lyth has been the subject of some interest.

Missing from the squad to entertain Forest Green tomorrow (3pm) is Steve Brodie, who damaged his hamstring again last week and looks set to miss the rest of the season.

Scott Jordan, who was released by York City earlier this week, has been training at the club and is in line for his Conference debut.

Scarborough: Woods, Atkinson, Ellender, Faure, Rennison, Brunton, Stoker, Jordan, Blunt, Diallo, Burt, Pounder, Newton, Dawson, Morris, Piercewright.
