THE scent of spring blooms filled the air at York's Newgate Market today as dutiful sons and daughters stopped off to remember their mothers with flowers.
Tomorrow is Mother's Day and little Rachel Keith, three, pictured, was one of many customers who decided to say it with flowers.
Paul Barrett, markets manager, said yesterday had been a noticeably busy day and today sales had been going well, with the weather promising good conditions for keeping the flowers in top condition, not too cold and not too warm.
He said: "We've got three flower stalls and you can smell them when you walk by. We've got a colourful and aromatic market today, just like the old days."
