A LOCOMOTIVE panel which is part of York's history is set to go on display at a railway museum planned by a city enthusiast.
John Rathmell, 49, of Melton Avenue, has been building up his collection of railway memorabilia for years, and a cab number plate from the Kenilworth locomotive is the latest addition.
Mr Rathmell, pictured, is hoping to open up the railway museum in his home by the summer and is preparing now to greet his first visitors.
He said: "The Kenilworth locomotive was based at Darlington, but it was last used in York. It's a pretty sentimental piece of my collection because I remember looking at the Kenilworth when it was stationed on the scrap line when I was younger."
Mr Rathmell added: "Looking at it takes me back to when I was a young boy, and I'm sure that will be the case for many visitors."
