James Clay (Otley MG) had a keepnet that resembled a sack of carrots at the end of Saturday's 45-entry Bob Co Tackle match at Willows Fishery.

Drawn on peg 55 on Goldrush Lake he worked hard with pole and maggot at 11 metres to whip out over a hundred golden orfe for his winning 20lb8oz.

Ivan Down (Goole AS) took the more leisurely approach netting a single carp of 13lb on pole and maggot from Bridge peg 13. He added a few bits for his tally of 14lb12oz but lost two potential match winning carp and a huge catfish.

A field of 30 contested Sunday's open on Horseshoe Lake at the Raker complex at Wheldrake.

Venue expert John Cosgrove used his knowledge of the lake to good effect, netting a win from peg eight.

Fishing pole and maggot, he netted lots of small pasty carp plus three bonus specimens for a total of 22lb 13oz.

At peg 22 Ray Savage secured second spot with seven carp for 18lb 4oz taken on pole and maggot at 16 metres.

With John Allerton (Tricast) coaching the Maver Barnsley side for the forthcoming winter league semi-final at Woodlands their odds must have shortened significantly.

After securing third place in the Kamasan League the Selby-based star scored another win at the Carlton Minniot complex in Saturday's 72 pegger.

Drawn on Skylark 28 Allerton pole-fished corn at 13 metres for 34lb 8oz of small carp with most of his fish coming in a hectic last 90 minutes.

Opposite on peg six was Dave Ludlam (Daiwa Goldthorpe) who used similar tactics for his all carp 25lb 4oz

The 40 entry at Carpvale found the going tough as the better fish refused to feed in cold water.

Steve Howard (Armley Angling) was victorious with just 12lb 10oz. Fishing a groundbait feeder with corn on peg eight he netted five small carp and a solitary chub.

Last week's winner Dave Maddison (Nomads) took second from peg 36. Fishing pole and maggot tight to the island he had a 5lb slab plus a carp and a trout for his 8lb 8oz.

Nigel Hargreaves (Pole Pullers) took pole position from peg 22 where he pulled out 25lb 6oz of small carp from tight to the island. On peg 18 the consistent Paul Taylor (Oaks Pole Ninjas) used the same tactics to take second place in the 65 pegger with 19lb 15oz.
