Newmarket trainer Sean Woods is aiming to prove that lightning can strike in the same place twice when Ripon stage their first meeting of the year tomorrow.

Woods, successful 12 months ago in the Galphay Classified Stakes with Going Global, can provide an encore with Flying Lyric, who will be ridden by last year's winning jockey John Reid.

Flying Lyric is held in high regard by Woods and looks the sort of horse to enjoy a useful campaign after a promising start.

Last season, as a juvenile, he ran only twice but opened his account at the second time of asking when scoring in decisive fashion under Jimmy Fortune at Bath.

Cadeaux Cher could be the one to collect the richest prize on tomorrow's Ripon card, the £10,000 Fountains Handicap.

Although not the most reliable horse, Barry Hills' sprinter looked excellent when winning at Doncaster 12 days ago.

Successful in the Great St Wilfrid Handicap a few years ago over tomorrow's course and distance, Cadeaux Cher can use his proven fitness to good advantage. Richard Hughes again has the mount.

In the Studley Royal Handicap it could be worth taking a chance on Righty Ho, trained at Thornton-le-Clay by Bill Tinning.

The gelding ended last season by being involved in an incident at York which resulted in his rider Kevin Hodgson having a nasty fall in the home straight.

Righty Ho had, however, previously won a claimer at Carlisle and finished second in a handicap at Nottingham. He is napped to make a winning reappearance.

Great Habton trainer Tim Easterby has often introduced a potentially high-class juvenile in the Spa Welter Maiden Stakes.

He won the race a year ago with Romantic Myth, who went on to Royal Ascot glory in the Queen Mary Stakes, so Tip Top, his representative tomorrow, is worth serious respect.

John Dunlop has few peers when it comes to getting the best out of three-year-olds and Caqui D'Or, despite three 'duck eggs' last season, should not be overlooked in the betabet Handicap.

In the opening race at Ascot, the Rosling King Handicap Hurdle, Regal Holly will not be short of supporters.

Charlie Mann's filly has been a model of consistency this term and looks sure to give backers a good run for their money.
