I WAS delighted, as was Royal Mail, to read Emma Harrison's article 'Those 20 letters made their destination on time' (March 27). It might be more interesting, however, to look into the reason why Royal Mail is having problems delivering the mail.

Could it be because the workforce has been run down over the years, or the poor wages they are paid? Maybe it is the change from being a service for the public into a business to make money. Perhaps this has led members of staff once proud of delivering the mail on time to having low morale, giving in to managers only interested in making profits instead of giving a service.
