IN reply to Dr Paul Docherty (March 21), Hob Moor is a super area for wildlife, peace and enjoyment and it has been this way for hundreds of years.

To have a place like this near a city centre, and in the middle of urban sprawl, is important.

Two schools protrude on to the moor and a number of schools are nearby so children have a great chance to be involved in its wildlife, nature and history within the national curriculum.

Many people walk and cycle across the moor and long may they do so.

But important wildlife could be destroyed if Sustrans construct the proposed hard surface cycle path with very little deterrent to motorcycles.

More and more people from far and wide are learning what Hob Moor has to offer.

Let the walkers and cyclists use it, but changing it may be a massive backward step.

There is a leaflet available in libraries which explains all about the moor.
