York may be one of the most land-locked cities in England, but tonight it is the scene of a talk which will dive straight to the heart of issues affecting users of the sea.
The talk is being given at the College of Ripon and York St John's Alcuin Room, where Veronica Robbins will make a plea to Yorkshire divers to report wreck items under the current Wreck Amnesty.
Ms Robbins, whose official title is Receiver of Wreck for the UK, said that the Wreck Amnesty, which was implemented on January 23, was three weeks away from ending.
The talk is designed to raise awareness among users of the sea along the Yorkshire coast about their duty to report items of wreckage for which they are responsible and which they can declare during the amnesty without fear of penalty.
Anyone with an interest in the subject is invited to the talk, which begins at 7.30pm.
