The pick of the weekend action was at the Willows, where a field of 44 enjoyed brisk sport from the complex's smaller residents.

Most of the winners came from the newly restored and restocked Goldrush Pool.

It was not pieces of gold but silver that filled the winner's net and wallet.

Drawn on peg 53 Dave Pollitt (Hirst Tackle) used pole and maggot over pellets at 11 metres for 187 Ide scaling at 26lb8oz.

At the next peg Kevin Weatherall used a similar approach.

The Selby rod finished with a deal level 20lb.

Other leading nets were taken by Keith Mitchell and Dave Armitage, who both bagged 18lb10oz with John Cyrowski on 17lb14oz.

Down the road at Carpvale the contest was as good as over as soon as organiser Dave Wright had pulled out peg 52.

The Armley Tackle man's favourite peg served him well as it was also the bonus peg on the day earning a £300 pay day.

Fishing a modest 23 metres to the islands with corn he topped the 40 pegger with seven carp scaling 23lb6oz. Byron Dell (Normark) took second place from peg 6 where he cast a groundbait feeder with maggot close to the far side snags. Six carp and a chub responded to his red maggots for a net of 21lb14oz.

Others: Steve Howard (Armley Angling) 17-2-0, Mark Wade (Armley Angling) 11-1-0, Stuart Shepherd (Leeds) 10-14-0.

Steve Phillips (Harehills WMC) topped the 30-peg Raker Open from peg 18 on Horseshoe Lake.

Fishing a long pole to the far bank he took a string of carp between 12oz and 1lb on corn for his winning bag of 19-15-0. Down the lake on end peg 30 was Idle and Thackley man Frank Johnson. He also chose to pole fish with corn and included a couple of larger 4lb lumps in his catch of 18lb6oz.

Others: Jamie Wilde (Barnsley Juniors) 17-8-0, Gary Matthews (Castleford) 13-0-0, Robert Eden (JT Rogers) 12-8-0, Mick Wheelan (Harehills) 11-7-0.

At Sessay the new Maples Lake at the Oaks continues to impress with 39 double-figure weights among the 63-strong field.

Last week's winner Nigel Hargreaves scored off peg 16. Fishing pole and maggot tight to the far side at around 13 metres he used single white maggot for his 33lb2oz bag of carp up to 12 ounces.
