YOUR quiz for April 4 asked who was the first man to fly across the English Channel and you gave the answer as Louis Bleriot.
This is not totally correct, while Bleriot was the pilot of the first aeroplane to cross the Channel, a Frenchman, Blanchard, and an American, Jeffries, succeeded in crossing the Channel in a balloon in 1798.
