Division three newcomers Hornsea and Old Malton should be capable of clinching the two promotion places.
Both have made overseas signings and should be too strong for their rivals, although Londesbrough Park and Hovingham may think otherwise.
One time Stamford Bridge paceman Nigel West has ended his long stint in the Bradford League. He has transferred from Drighlington to Yapham where his presence should enable the village side to mount a strong challenge for fourth division honours.
Yapham may, however, have early season problems as they are one of three teams whose pre-season planning has been hampered by foot and mouth restrictions. The relegation of three clubs last season condemned Acomb II to the fourth division and they will be looking for a promotion slot.
The influx of new teams has resulted in 17 sides competing for one promotion place in a fifth division which will be something of a lottery.
Pickering II are likely to emerge at the top of the pack in their first season, while fellow newcomers Malton and Old Malton look to be their chief challengers.
