York District Hospital was today listed as among the UK's top 40 NHS hospitals by an international company specialising in measuring healthcare performance.
It is the first time the firm, CHKS, has named the top hospitals in this country, after running similar events in Spain and the United States.
The 40 hospitals were selected from more than 100 NHS Trusts in the UK and rated on 13 different performance targets. They were not ranked in order.
