A Michelangelo drawing recently found at Castle Howard may be heading abroad.
The National Galleries of Scotland was offered the Mourning Woman but has been unable to raise enough cash.
Now the drawing will be sold at auction on July 11.
The three-quarters view of a woman was found in the library of Castle Howard where it lay unrecognised for more than 250 years.
The drawing, from around 1505, will be offered at Sotheby's in London and is expected to raise between £6 million and £8 million.
