Hovingham bowler Mark Redhead produced the best bowling figures of the day when his 7 for 24 in 17 overs knocked over Wilberfoss for just 58 and set up an eight-wicket win for his side. George Mosey was unbeaten with 33 for the winners.

Redhead's figures were marginally better than the 7 for 28 recorded by Geoff Coe which helped Tadcaster Magnet win against Thorp Arch & Boston Spa.

Richard Taylor hit 76 and Bobby Collins 46 for Magnet but Mike Cole's 4 for 25 and Stuart Ball's 4 for 26 had the Tadcaster side all out for 150. Coe proved to be too hot to handle for Thorp who were whipped out for only 69.

Heslington must have been confident of recording their first league win after restricting Cawood to a first innings score of 106 for 7. Once again Bob Paddison was Cawood's top scorer with 42 whilst Howard Steane chipped in with 25 as Shaun Thompson added another four wickets to his seasonal bag for a cost of 43 runs. Steane then produced a good bowling performance which saw him grab 6 for 30. Brother Rob Steane claimed the other four wickets for 43 as Heslington subsided to 85 all out with only Peter Elliott 29 offering token resistance.

New Earswick's hopes of a victory took an even more severe battering than Heslington's for they were within 21 runs of victory over Bolton Percy with half their wickets still intact yet still managed to lose by 15 runs.

John Hodge stood alone to make 34not out as Bolton Percy fell to 107 all out against the bowling of John Routledge who took 5 for 33. Mick Steels then made 34 as new Earswick put themselves in a strong position at 87 for 5 but Colin Thacker then captured 5 for 21 as Earswick lost their last five wickets for just five runs to crash to 92 all out.

Batting first at Selby, Malton and Old Malton were all out for 109 as Andrew Jarvis took 3 for 31 and Kevin Lund 3 for 19. Alistair Blacklee made 25 and Mark Wilkinson 46. Selby were then taken to a nine wicket win by Mal Bowden who made 64no and Kev Lund who was unbeaten with 26.

Pickering enjoyed an advantage draw at Rowntrees after scoring 158 for 7. Stuart Brown and 16-year-old Keith Aconley (34) put on 64 for Pickering's fourth wicket.

'Trees closed on 118 for 9, former Settrington bowler Ian Johnson taking 4 for 49.
