York's six-wicket victory over Carlton Towers leaves them 13 points ahead of second placed Beverley in division one.

Carlton's Paul Wright hit 75 and Stuart Coleman made 27 while youngster Chris Cole claimed 4 for 73 as Carlton totalled 150-4. York's reply saw Kent Stone make 39 and John McGrady 47.

Beverley lost ground when they were held to a draw at Duncombe Park with the home side owing much to Peter Kent who made an unbeaten 70 in his side's total of 146 for 8. Earlier Richard Taylor had made 44 and Andy Brumfield 45 to counteract Colin Humpleby (5-53) and Will Mallory (4-57) as Beverley made 174 for 9.

Dringhouses find themselves at the foot of the division after going down by three wickets at Crayke. Andrew Dawson was the star for the village side when he followed his 5 for 50 with 38 to negate Alistair Darnell's 5 for 47. John Crowe was the only Dringhouses batsman to figure on the result sheet as he made 25 in his side's 122-9.

East Riding rivalry was renewed when Driffield visited Stamford Bridge. Batting first, Stamford Bridge made a modest 141 forc 9 as Jonathan Stevens made 37 and Graham Tipping 31 in the face of good bowling by John Woolley (4-35) and Geoff Drury (4-33).

Driffield were then indebted to Phil Woodcock who made 37 and Ankur Sondhi who scored 34 but despite their efforts they were only able to make 136 as Graham Tipping took 5 for 56 in a 22 over stint which earned Stamford a good win by just five runs.

Ian Watkinson's 6 for 46 at Stillington set up a nine-wicket victory for a Sessay side who are on the up and up. Home batsman Shaminda Dissanayake made 40 and Dave Allitt added 26 but Watkinson ensured they were dismissed for 155. Nick Harrison then hit 73 before being dismissed and John Flintoff, with 47no and Matthew Till, who was unbeaten with 35, then saw Sessay to the finishing line.

At Pocklington, home openers Andy Inns and Sean Houltham paired in a 88-run partnership with Inns making 48 and his partner 42. Matt McIntosh then struck to take 4 for 72 as the home innings fell away to 156 all out.

Nathan Job then out-bowled his fellow Australian by taking 6 for 50 and only resolute batting from Mike Stothard, who made 37no, enabled Wilberfoss to avoid defeat at 113 for 9.
