All 20 wickets fell at Acomb yesterday where the home side had a relatively comfortable win over Woodhouse Grange whose total of 51 was the lowest in the premier division of the Hunters Estate Agent York and District Senior Cricket League so far this season.

Richard Sykes made 30 and Duminda Perera 34 in a modest total of 118 as Paul Grewer claimed 5 for 30 and Russ Bilton, recalled to first team duties, 3 for 14.

Grange then found home skipper Dave Sykes in his most penetrative form and his 5 for 19 combined with a 3 for 14 return by Richard Clayton sent the Grange tumbling to 51 all out.

Clifton Alliance's Australian Darren Reeves batted throughout his side's innings to make 114 not out in a total of 195 for 6 at Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

Richard Musgrave (22) helped him add 51 for the third wicket then James Postill made 28 in a fourth wicket stand of 68. Paul Oldfield bowled a good spell of 17 overs which earned him 5 for 64.

Oldfield then lost a succession of partners as he moved to 46 before being caught at the wicket by Dave Russell off Postill for 46 as the Bridge slumped to 75 for 6.

Skipper Steve Crowder battled to 20 then Nick Scaling threatened to grab a win for the home side as he rattled 54 before falling to Musgrave.

Simon Ewbank, making one of his all too infrequent appearances for the Bridge made 22no but Musgrave (3-34) ended the innings at 171 all out in the 48th over to gain a 24 run win for the Alliance.

Thirsk's batsmen gave a dismal performance at Osbaldwick where Peter Machin removed the top four for only 32 as he took 4for 19.

Late order runs came from the youthful Dean Bramley who made 33 and Barry Petty (29no) but Steve Machen polished off the tail to claim 4 for 52 as Thirsk were all out for 126.

Osbaldwick's start was even worse than their opponents as two wickets apiece for Petty and Richard Bentley had them floundering at 18-4. However salvation was at hand in the form of Dave Cooper and Andy Hall who put together the best fifth wicket partnership so far this season in the division when they combined to add 103 runs.

The stand was terminated at 121 when John Cook had Cooper caught by Lincoln McCrae for 56 but Hall was able to see his side to a five wicket win with an unbeaten 41. Petty conceded a mere 18 runs off 18 overs but lacked bowling support.

Whitkirk improved their league status with an advantage draw at Easingwold where they made 232 for 5 and then restricted the hosts to 196 for 9.

Stuart Pickles top scored with 47 for the Leeds side whilst a sound team batting effort saw 18-year-old Nick Talbot make 46, Grant Galloway 35 and Craig Shipton and Robert Horner both hit 34.

In reply, Jonathan Marwood made a match top score of 77 while John Moore 29 and Damon Smith 32 supported but Craig Shipton took 5-62 and Matthew Wright 3 for 40 to leave the home side on the brink of defeat at 196-9.

Pickering moved off the bottom with an encouraging 88-run victory at the expense of Heworth whose skipper Dave Simpson carried his bat in an unsuccessful attempt to stave off defeat.

Pickering had a number of regulars missing but were given a sound start by Brian Leckenby who made 60. Martin Sigsworth with 3 for 77 and Graham Hayward who had 3 for 49 plugged away but Craig Aconley made 44 and Mark Shepherd 32 as they shared a sixth wicket stand of 58 which helped the Pikes reach 221 for 9.

Heworth's hopes then rested on the shoulders of Dave Simpson who batted through his side's innings to make an unbeaten 73. Unfortunately his team-mates were unable to give adequate support as Mark Yates captured 5 for 31 and the York side were dismissed for 133. Pickering's stand-in wicket keeper, Colin Frank bagged three catches while outfielder Mark Shepherd also held on to three catches.

At Ripon, the home batsmen made slow progress against Dunnington as Steve Precious' spin tied them in knots. Chris Warters made 38, Gary Blackburn 40 not out and Ryan Tempany 26 but Precious was in a mean mood as he recorded bowling figures of 17-8-17-2 and his efforts restricted the hosts to 138 for 5.

Facing such a modest total, Dunnington were able to shrug off the absence of Simon Kellett who was playing a three-day game for Cambridgeshire, and moved to a comfortable nine-wicket win with only Harwood Williams, who made 58, losing his wicket before Hamid Khan ( 44no) and Collis King (28no) took Dunnington to the anticipated victory.
