Tracey Farmeary and Jayne Janes produced a superb 20-dart pairs' game as City Arms fended off strong opposition from Dringhouses in York John Smith's Ladies League division one.

City romped into a 3-0 lead, Angie Hields throwing two tons for 23, but Chris Myhill, Lynne Dacre and Susie Hughes levelled the scores.

However, City again pulled out all the stops to collect three pairs.

Sandra Bruce was once more in excellent form, recording 140, 125 and a bull finish for 21 as Ox crushed Slipper 8-1. The Doreen Johnstone-Ann Manning pairing prevented the whitewash.

Cindy Benton shot out on 91 for Vaults, but Cygnet's Anne Bass topped that with a 94-check which helped Cygnet to a 7-2 victory.

Karen Richardson checked 89, with treble 19 double 16, and colleague Michelle Britton produced the big scores as Bay Horse cantered to a 6-3 win against Cranes.

Roz Kerr and Sue Lowery helped guide Brigadier to a 6-3 victory over Punch, while Clifton had the match in the bag by taking the first five before Tina Platt replied for Layerthorpe.

Slip lead division two after beating close rivals Mitre 5-4. Pat Cairns, partnering Lynn Wood, secured the win, while the Half Moor versus Britannia 'B' match went to the wire. Betty Pinder (125) and Joan Harrison took the decider in Britannia's favour.

Shepherd Club had Brenda Hodgson and Eileen Haw securing the match as they overcame Jubilee by the smallest margin.

Burton Club secured the win against Britannia 'A' by winning all the pairs. Leeman similarly beat Severus once their captain Peggy Rose made it 3-3. Cygnet found Poacher too hot to handle and lost 6-3.

Linda Embleton included a maximum for 25 and then went on to win a pair game on her own thus helping division three leaders Clifton get the better of Frog.

Second-placed Woolpack had Doreen England and Nicky Neilson securing a 5-4 win against Tang Hall WMC.

Carol Rimmer and Jackie Pearson were Ebor's only point scorers as good scoring by Claire White led Leeman 'B' to a 7-2 win.

Shelagh Kenny hit the tons for Queen who beat Cue Ball 6-3, while Pauline Dale sealed the win for Shepherd 'B' against Puss n' Boots.

Fulford Conservative Club have had their York White Rose Ladies League division two lead cut to one point after their main rivals, Coach and Horses, beat them 5-2. Liz Jackson and Michelle Harrison replied for the leaders.

Alice Hawthorn pipped King William on the last game, taken by Yvonne Taylor, while Nags Head faltered against Huntington whose Janet Curry, Sue Smith and Gillian Zurek took the last three for victory.

Division one leaders Fulfordgate were also beaten. Beryl Glover found a fine 21-darter, but Crescent came out on top 5-2.

Burton WMC's Jane Barnes recorded a splendid 20 darts and Olive Thompson took the decider against Clarence, while Ann Robinson threw a steady 24 to get Winning Post a last-game victory over Sun, who had a good 23 darts from Julie Scattergood.

Rose Ratcliffe secured Tap's 4-3 victory against Bowling Club and Institute's Denise Fahey took the 4-3 winner against New York.
