Fulford'S St Oswald's School enjoyed a clean sweep of titles in the HSBC-sponsored North Yorkshire Inter-Primary Schools Tennis Competition.

Six schools took part in the tournament, which included an Under-11s, an Under-11s Transitional Tennis and an Under-9s Mini-Tennis competition.

And the Fulford youngsters did the treble, with two of their three sides winning all of their matches.

St Oswald's 'A' team - comprising Yorkshire Lawn Tennis Association county squad trio Aidan Richardson, Mathew Shepherd and Joshua Beavers along with Chris Baughan, who are all coached by Belinda Turnbull - won the Under-11s title without dropping a rubbber.

Ripon Choir School finished as runners-up with Heslington Primary and St Oswald's 'B' tying for third place.

St Oswald's 'C' - consisting of David Warner, Scott Shepherd, Lloyd Bulmer and James Wylie - won the transitional tennis title, while St Oswald's 'D' won all their matches on the way to victory in the mini-tennis.

The 'D' team of Alex Pape, Joe Clare, Thomas Craddock and Maddy Bruce beat Heslington Primary, Ripon Choir School and Stokesley Primary School into joint second place.

The other competitors came from Upper Poppleton Junior School and Queen Mary's School.
