Stretton, successful in a photo-finish at York a fortnight ago, can follow-up at Goodwood tomorrow.

The three-year-old, trained at Middleham by James Bethell, goes for the ILS Handicap and, with John Reid in the saddle, is fancied to come out on top.

It was only by a short-head that Stretton nicked the verdict on Knavesmire, but he did not get the best of runs through the race and it says much for his determination that he got his nose in front where it mattered.

Tomorrow's slightly longer distance is in favour of the North Yorkshire raider, who I expect to make a bold bid.

Bethell and Reid can also land the Honeywell Showcase Handicap with Borders Belle.

Two good runs this season, including a creditable third to Compton Commander at Chester last time, should have teed-up Borders Belle nicely for this £10,000 event.

Loch Laird gets my Nap vote in the Casco Handicap over six furlongs, which is his best distance.

Willie Ryan's mount finished a good third to Amber Fort over just short of seven furlongs at Salisbury last time. Over a course and distance where he has been successful in the past, a return to the winners' enclosure looks likely tomorrow.

Up at Ayr, Ryefield should go well in the Macdonalds Solicitors Handicap.

Trained by Linda Perratt just across the road from the track, Ryefield has shown some of his best form over this course and distance. Seemingly coming to hand after three outings, he should now be ready to strike winning form.

Sir Sandrovitch, winner of the RS Design Handicap 12 months ago, has good prospects of completing the double.

Richard Fahey's sprinter is steadily coming to hand and shaped better than might first appear at Thirsk last time after meeting some serious interference in the first half of the race. Smart apprentice Paul Hanagan has the mount.

The useful York Cliff (3.20) and the promising Premier Account (4.55) are two others to note in Scotland.

Racing in North Yorkshire tomorrow is at Wetherby, where there is an evening meeting of National Hunt action.

Trainer Owen Brennan could be the man to follow, just as he was on the same course last week. He completed a double at the previous meeting and, significantly, he saddles the same two horses again.

Extra Cache goes for the Wetherby Steeplechases Sponsorship Reception Handicap Hurdle, while Regal Statesman has the Jewson Novices' Hurdle in his sights. I think they will both be hard to beat.
