Grateful motorists gave generously to the St Leonard's Hospice 2000 Appeal after fundraising AA men gave their vehicles a once over.
The AA patrolmen carried out "pre-summer checks" to vehicles outside Asda, in Monks Cross, York, in return for a donation to the St Leonard's Hospice Appeal.
They ended up raising £510.76, which was considered a great success as they were aiming for a target of £500. The checks were concentrated on vehicles' tyres and engines to ensure they were fit for the journeys ahead in the upcoming holiday season.
