Harrogate's 16-point haul over the Bank Holiday has seen them leapfrog over Castleford, Sheffield Collegiate and the Yorkshire Academy into the top spot of the Oxbridge ECB Yorkshire County Premier League.

They head Scarborough by just two points. Early leaders York, who got back on track with victory over Yorkshire Academy, have 20 points from seven games.

York should put themselves on the road to recovery tomorrow when they travel to Scunthorpe to take on Appleby-Frodingham, whose main claim to fame this season is the fact that they have been involved in two tied games so far.

Curiously it is four years since a Yorkshire League match ended in a tie, so two ties involving the same club is a bit like lightening striking twice.

Simon Mason is missing from the York side tomorrow as he is on holiday, his place being taken by Ed Senneck.

Scarborough could be quaking in their boots tomorrow as they visit The Circle where Hull's Indian all-rounder, Amit Dani, has scored 330 runs in his last four outings, including 116 at Abbeydale Park last weekend where Dani was supported by 91 from Andy Simpson.

Leaders Harrogate entertain Driffield tomorrow with James Lancaster and Andrew Taylor promoted from the second team as Ross Kneller and Tom Durrance, the Leeds University player, are unavailable.

It is Doncaster's turn tomorrow to entertain Cleethorpes' Kiwi test star, Matthew Sinclair, who shot back into prominence again last Monday with his second double century of the season when he scored 202 against Yorkshire Academy.

The Yorkshire League XI is in action at the impressive New Rover ground in Leeds against the Wetherby League on Sunday (1.30pm) with John Inglis and Peter Hepworth representing Harrogate and Darren Harland travelling from Scarborough, although York's skipper, Nigel Durham, and Mason are unavailable for this game.

In the only other Yorkshire League game this weekend, Yorkshire Academy have forfeited ground advantage to play Driffield at Kings Mill Road on Sunday.
